This isn’t about anything I’ve done or even protecting Willie. Keeping my grandfather from me is pure selfishness and bigotry. The cruelty continues as Willie continues to hang on and I still am unable to talk to him.
Why I believe gender stereotyping only seeks to create problems. We are all unique. We are not defined by what we like, but rather who we are and how we feel. Let us rejoice in what people enjoy not castigate them for enjoying!

My birth family hates me. They hate me enough to make sure I’m on a list to be denied information about my grandfather and to be denied information on his whereabouts. They hate me enough to keep me from my Hospice room. They hate me so much they are willing to go against a dying man’s wishes of peace in his family and the right to see a grandchild he loves.
I owe it to the disability rights advocates who have come before me. Without them, I could not be the filmmaker I am today. I most likely would not be a filmmaker at all.
Our local indoor football team offered us a $1000 donation for my thesis film, Trip. Now that it is time to pay us, they are out of town and won’t be paying until much later (if at all) causing our budget to fall short.
Perhaps we can all find peace, love and understanding in this life and stop worrying about what others are doing in their lives. Labels hinder us from truly finding peace with one another.
People with disabilities are people first. All of you need to be made aware of the fact that this societal oppression is occurring. You may be guilty of it, yourself.
The time is now to let it go. Live and let live. Live life to the fullest and only then will you achieve all of your greatest goals.
